"I love it when you can bring really great design and simple capability to something that doesn't cost much. It was the original vision for Apple."

Midcentury modern living
Being a designer meant living in design. Eichler homes were designed for people who enjoy the inside/outside living spaces where floor to ceiling glass adorned common areas that allowed natural light to come into every aspect of living spaces.
Eichler opposed racial discrimination
Eichler was opposed to racial discrimination. he established a non-discrimination policy and was the first large, tract-builder to sell to minorities. In 1958, Joe resigned from the National Association of Home Builders in protest of racial discrimination policies and offered to buy back homes from those who had trouble accepting their neighbors.
